Tucson Salpointe was just too good to not wind up in 6A under the AIA annual football conference realignment rules. Now the Lancers are Road Warriors.

Tucson Salpointe Catholic was just too good to not wind up in 6A under the Arizona Interscholastic Association annual football conference realignment rules.Playing in the East Valley Region with Mesa Red Mountain, Mesa Mountain View, Gilbert Williams Field and Queen Creek, they only have two games against Southern Arizona teams — Vail Cienega and Tucson Mica Mountain.

The AIA every year realigns the football conferences based on how well the schools have competed during a three-year span. To help, Rogers said that Salpointe is offering the football players after-school tutoring Monday through Thursday to help them keep up.Fortunately for them, they'll only have two more trips to the Valley after this week — to Red Mountain on Oct. 14 and to Queen Creek on Nov. 10 — before the playoffs start.
