An anti-Israel protester ripping down posters of Hamas hostages and anti-Israel protesters in Baltimore City Protesters supporting both sides of the Israel-Hamas war faced off Saturday in downtown Baltimore, with some anti-Israel demonstrators defending and claiming affiliation with the terrorist group that provoked the conflict.
In videos exclusively obtained by The National Desk , demonstrators are seen tearing down “missing” posters depicting Israeli hostages abducted by the terror group Hamas. My name is Hezbollah, my name is Jihad, my name is Mohammed,” an unknown demonstrator told a group of Israel-supporting demonstrators. In another video, one of those protesters, allegedly associated with the Palestinian Youth Movement, is heard alleging support for the terrorist group Hamas. Yes, I support Hamas. Yes, I do,” the alleged Palestinian Youth Movement protester told Israeli supporting demonstrators. Cobey Blumenthal, 21, and Leora Steinburg, 20, were part of a group posting the Israeli “missing persons” flyers outlining details of captured hostages. They claimed they were inspired by the rapidly growing “Bring Them Home Now” social media account on X, formerly known as Twitter. I had heard about the rally on Instagram, I felt appalled that people could be praising these actions within my own state,” Cobey Blumenthal told TND regarding Saturday’s heated exchange. Blumenthal told TND he believes vocal support of Hamas is rooted in a lack of understanding of the Israel-Hamas crisis. Steinburg had a stronger viewpoint. who intentionally support Hamas as a group are supporting an incredibly antisemitic group and therefore, I would have to say are antisemitic,” Leora Steinburg explained to TND.are still unaccounted for and believed to be held by Hamas. Blumenthal explained to TND his intention was to humanize the devastating effects of Hamas’s activities are having on families victims of the hostage crisis. I couldn’t let them get away with refusing to see the people held captive by Hamas,” Cobey Blumenthal described to TND. Since the calling for a “Global Day of Jihad” by a former Hamas leader, American communities have beenAnti-Israel protests have been coupled with AmericanDuring a recent Baltimore demonstration,of a prominent labor union attorney for AFGE National VA Council calling for the destruction of Israel. They need us in the streets because we are only going to win this by sticking together. And that’s how we defeat Zionism and that’s how we guarantee this scourge no longer gets to walk on our planet,” the labor union attorney proclaimed to a past group of Baltimore protesters. A spokesperson for the union told TND the attorney's viewpoints are contrary to those held by the organization.Pro-Israel demonstrator Leora Steinburg told TND that, as member of the Jewish community with the majority of her family still living in Israel, statements like these are seen as hateful and antisemitic. People say ‘never again’ in regards to the Holocaust, but then they are silent when Jews are attacked and terrorized,” Steinburg explained to TND.released by the FBI. Lonny Wilk of the Anti-Defamation League of Florida said she was alarmed to see the FBI's data. We know most motivated biased incidents are not intended for one individual, but they are intended to send messages of fear and harassment throughout the entire community,” Wilk said. Meanwhile in Baltimore, Steinburg pressed back on anti-Israeli protesters, drawing a historical comparison. Far too many of the protesters in this group have decided that the names and faces of innocent Israelis are ‘Zionist propaganda’ just because the victims are Israeli,” Steinburg exclaimed to TND. “The Nazis dehumanized us and labeling hostages as ‘propaganda’ instead of seeing them as humans who are being held hostage is also dehumanizing.” According to the Israel Defense Force , at least 199 people were taken hostage during the unprovoked Hamas terrorist attack on southern Israeli settlements and a music festival. The Israeli military claims hostages range from babies to the elderly, all being held captive in Gaza. The IDF has warned Hamas and the world of an imminent ground invasion to retrieve captives. Hamas released two hostages Monday afternoon. They were identified as 85-year-old Yocheved Lifshitz and 79-year-old Nurit Cooper. TND reached out to the Palestinian Youth Movement for comment. Requests for comment were not immediately returned. This article will be updated with any responses received.
