The underrated 2019 thriller I See You is a wild ride from start to finish, and its shocking ending features more than one jaw-dropping twist. Though its initial release on VOD was underwhelming, I See You found new life when it was released on Netflix, snagging the number one spot among their movie selections. Starring Helen Hunt, the film delivers a gripping story that soars above many Hollywood thrillers.
Mindy discovers two of Greg's victims but is captured. Greg returns home after finding out that Mindy and Alec have been hiding in his house. Greg then shoots Mindy and stages it to look like self-defense, but Alec suddenly attacks Greg with an ax and eventually shoots him. Detective Spitzky arrives and shoots Alec, who whispers Spitzky's name, which causes the detective to realize who he is. Alec is then shown being loaded into an ambulance as Conner and Jackie return from the hospital.
Through the use of flashbacks, I See You explains that Greg was the kidnapper all along, and Alec had been one of his victims, along with Tommy Braun, a decade and a half earlier. Through extensive legwork not shown on screen, Alec had gone along with Mindy's plan to commit a home invasion through phrogging, but he just wanted revenge against his tormentor.
Why Greg Kills Mindy After catching Mindy in his victim hiding spot, and discovering she was "phrogging" in his house, Greg hatches the plan to kill her and make it look like a self-defense shooting. Because Greg still possessed the evidence of his own crimes, it could have been that he not only wanted to eliminate a witness but also have another scapegoat. He could have planted the evidence on the two "phroggers" and completely deflected blame from himself.
