Manchester couple Trish and Mike Hopkinson have lost more than four stone between them
A couple who were planning to move back to Manchester have had a change of heart after joining a weight loss group.
But persuaded to join to support her husband Mike, the 60-year-old is now the group's biggest advocate - even deciding to move home to maintain to the friendships they've formed at the club.Trish, who works in HR, said: “Interestingly, Mike wanted to join. I was very anti-joining. I didn’t see the point of it. Mike was telling my mum about it and she put me on a guilt trip saying I should be supporting him.
The married couple had put their house on the market with the idea of retiring and moving back to their hometown of Manchester. But thanks to their love of the Cheshire group, the pair have decided to stay. Trish and Mike, who works as a builder, found they both put on weight during lockdown. She added: “We had always been quite slim. But it was that combination of lockdown, doing less, sitting home and drinking too much and getting a bit older, your metabolism slows down.
