A MyBroadband staff member used the E-Home Affairs online booking system to renew their passport. Here’s how it went.
The Department of Home Affairs’ offers the ability to book passport renewals through its online system for smart ID cards, and it is great — when it works.
To further secure your account, the system requires a one-time pin for every login. This is sent to you once you have entered your password. I selected the Standard Bank Centurion branch as the location. The branch is at the Centurion Lifestyle centre. After completing the form, you can click “Submit” at the top of the page to move on to the next step — document submission.
I captured my details and completed the payment on 16 March 2022. The first available slot to capture my biometric data was only on 31 March 2022 at 13:00, which I booked. One explained that the system worked perfectly until the booking portion — after successfully making payment. The system showed that there were no bookings available.
