In late July, U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) announced she was introducing new legislation in honor of Gribbin.
Gribbin and McCray Faust were swimming in the area of Seacrest Beach in early June, about four miles away from the location of. According to the South Walton Fire District, the girls were just inside the first sandbar in about waist deep water.
“Victim one received significant injuries to one upper and one lower extremity, both requiring the application of tourniquets. This victim was transported in critical condition via Okaloosa Med Flight to Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola. Victim number two received what’s been described as flesh wounds to the right lower extremity, or her right foot, that victim was transported by fire district personnel to Ascension Bay Medical Center where she is reportedly in stable condition.
This Saturday, Aug. 24, Mountain Brook Police are escorting a welcome home parade for Lulu, who has been in the hospital since the attack in June. Authorities say the escort will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday near the traffic circle in Mountain Brook Village, proceed eastbound on Montevallo Rd., and will then turn onto Church St. into Crestline Village before the end of the parade at La Paz.
MBPD says attendees may line both sides on Montevallo Rd. to show their support for Lulu, however, no streets will be blocked for the parade, and those in attendance are asked to not park on both sides of neighborhood streets.
