Drop everything and immediately hit the road.Immediately decide it's not the one, hop back in the car and sit in more traffic. Decide for whatever reason that you can live with this house, and that it's worth spending every last dollar and borrowing as much as the bank will lend.
Immediately put in a well-over-asking-price offer because the house will likely be under contract within a day or two. Write a heartstring-pulling letter to the seller, extolling the virtues of their home and your daydreams of hosting big Thanksgiving dinners in it. Wait for the realtor to call to let you know another buyer outbid you or came cash-in-hand or waived the mortgage and/or inspection contingencies. Just this week, we were outbid on a house by a mere 0.62% of our offer price.
