On Friday, the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party confirmed that it expelled its founder Jabulani Khumalo and four others.
UMkhonto weSizwe Party founder Jabulani Khumalo insists that he is still a member and leader of the political party.Khumalo who registered the MK Party with the IEC in September 2023 was sent packing alongside Ray Khumalo, Bheki Manzini, Lebo Moepeng, and Rochelle Davidson.
The party said the suspension is a commitment to purify itself from rogue elements that would blur its lines to the two-thirds majority. “We want to categorically state that the National Leadership Core will always act and make decisions in the interest of all patriotic South Africans that want to see change,” MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said.“I am still a member and a leader of uMkhonto , I don’t know where the story of being expelled comes from. There are many lies doing the rounds.
“I am still a member and a leader until Nxamalala and I have a meeting to discuss this,” Khumalo said.founder Jabulani Khumalo insists he is still a member & leader of uMkhonto weSizwe Party. His party released a statement that he & four others have been expelled for trying to destabilise the party.
Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court granted Zuma and the MK Party an extension until the following Tuesday to submit their responding affidavits in the case brought by the IEC challenging the Electoral Court’s ruling concerning Zuma’s eligibility to participate in the elections., the deputy chief justice issued these directions on Thursday, 25 April, in response to a request for an extension made by the legal representatives of Zuma and the party on Wednesday.
