At first, given that I make wedding and prom dresses, I didn’t think there would be anything I could do to help directly.Initially I thought about making face masks but I don’t know enough about the antimicrobial properties of different fabrics, and I wasn’t sure how safe it would be to send things I had made to hospitals – especially as my daughter started developing symptoms.
I put a post on Facebook and someone I had worked with previously tagged her friend, Jenny*, who works in the intensive care unit at Hillingdon Hospital. She had been planning to get married this year but was still without a dress. I’m speaking to another bride next week and a couple of others have responded too. It’s wonderful to hear the excitement in their voices and it gives me a huge amount of pleasure.
