As an angsty 20-year-old student in 2018 with zero interest in the royal family, I only really got a summer job there for the pay. Quite quickly after starting, I noticed something any member of staff that helps manage the palace will tell you – it’s very, very busy. If we abolished the monarchy and opened Buckingham Palace year-wide as a museum, would it have the same pull?
