Sharing a name is about the only thing these two have in common
a lot in my life. I have asthma and every winter – except the one just passed – I’ve ended up in hospital for a chest infection. I don’t think there’s been a time in recent memory where I’ve gone to the doctor’s and not had them give me a funny look when calling out my name.
I always feel like I have to apologise and I tend to reply with, ‘No, not that one’. Or ‘Don’t worry, I’m on your side. I think he’s a tw*t’. That usually gets a laugh.I’m always curious in finding out what motivated him to think what he was doing was actually for the best? Looking at me, I’m clearly not the suited and booted, Tory type. I’m a tall, beardy, weird-looking geezer. I may look like the evil one, but can I assure you that’s him.There’s a whole YouTube compilation of every time it’s happened on TV. It just brings me joy, what can I say?I have no interest in meeting him – apart from the obvious, I’m not sure we’d have much in common. If we were to come face to face though, I’d have a hard time not speaking to him about politics.
In return, he could ask me about my job and I could bore him senseless talking about leathercraft, which is what I do. I’m always quite happy that no one has linked my name and my business, I can only imagine other Tory MPs stumbling across it being like, ‘What is this hippy nonsense? Jeremy never mentioned he was so into swords’.
