One headteacher has said he has never fined families who take term-time holidays as he recognises it can save large amounts of money CallumCMason reports
So why does one headteacher say that he doesn’t blame families who opt to take their children out of lessons – and even admits to doing it himself? In the current, a family holiday is essential for togetherness. Splashing about in the sea, building sandcastles – that sort of thing is really important.
I’ve done it with my kids, taken them to Greece outside the school holidays, because they have different term dates for their half terms and it was impossible to find a time that worked for them both.If I can do it, so can families as far as I am concerned.– it’s not just well-off families saving cash on foreign trips.
The fine situation is ridiculous – you get fined £60 per pupil, but save thousands of pounds by going outside holidays.
