. Over 55 years ago, I dealt with a corrupt superintendent and board. My alma mater was absorbed by North Forest HS. These problems don’t go away with new leadership. The students and staff of HISD deserve so much more.

I am a native Houstonian. I taught for a time, some of it in HISD . Miles' vision has real potential. And he will definitely upset those within the system that most need upsetting. But here’s hoping much of his vision comes to pass. HISD students deserve it; they have been underserved for too long. Mike Miles needs the trust of the HISD communities in order to help the community thrive so that schools improve. Miles is asked to make an ignored dog's tail wag without improving the neglected environment in which it lives. Miles' lack of transparency and community involvement is a sure sign he will be forcing the tail to wag in order to sell a happy dog.Join the conversation.
