Former Ohio House Rep. Bob Young struck his wife during an argument about how a bartender had treated his political allies from Columbus, according to testimony Tuesday in Barberton Municipal Court.

Ohio Rep. Bob Young's official House portraitCLEVELAND, Ohio – Former Ohio House Rep. Bob Young struck his wife during an argument about how a bartender had treated his political friends from Columbus, according to testimony Tuesday in Barberton Municipal Court.

“I got struck, and I felt discombobulated,” Tina Young said in testimony that was livestreamed by Cleveland television stations. She admitted that she hesitated to talk to officers about it. She told Jennifer Roberts, an assistant city prosecutor, “I couldn’t even think.” Young, a Republican, denies the charges. He resigned earlier this month. He had told Jason Stephens, the speaker of the Ohio House, that he had become a distraction to his colleagues.

Tina Young said her husband became irate with a female bartender at a party after the fundraiser July 6. He had claimed that she had treated Bob Young’s political friends badly. The bartender was Tina Young’s friend.
