If you haven’t watched that clip of Stewart meticulously breaking down every one of Rutledge’s bigoted policy stances against transgender youth, you can do that here:The problem, no pun intended, is that if you watched just that clip, you’re missing a few vital pieces of context. And no, this is not the part where I offer support to Rutledge, because f—k her and f—k her kind.
Activist/parent Keisha Michaels explains to Stewart that when her own daughter came out as trans, “My husband and I were not really woke about this.” She then details how, by getting over her own prejudices and simply giving her daughter social affirmation of her gender identity, the girl went from thoughts of suicide to feeling like herself in nearly an instant.
Given that Stewart is costing Apple $24 million a year, that company probably thinks of him the same way. That’s why this new season of “The Problem” is, in certain ways, much different from its initial run.
