) - A Mobile County woman says her horse was shot dead. Now she wants to know who did this and why. Kim Fincham says she’s had her horse, Precious, for six years, creating a close bond and going on many adventures.
Fincham says on June 3, she came to a field in Citronelle off Highway 45, where Precious is kept, to feed her. She said Precious was behind a tree and didn’t come to eat. That’s when Fincham says she heard multiple gunshots but didn’t think anything of it.
“I came to feed her, and I pulled up at the fence. She didn’t come to the fence like the rest of the horses did. So, I thought something was wrong. Of course, I went up a little bit higher in the grass so I could see because it was a low valley.
I looked back there and I could see her feet sticking up. That’s when I come running back here to check on her. She was already stiff and bloated,” Fincham said.
“Was this fun in games, was this target practice. Was it seeing if you could hit it? If so, there’s a lot of other things you can choose to shoot at. ”Then, she says someone else came out to help.
That’s when they noticed at least eight gunshots across Precious’ body. Fincham says there were around five gunshots around Precious’ neck, and based on where they were on her body, it appears the gunshots came from behind the field. As the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate, Fincham says she wants answers and justice.
“I’d like to know why. What state of mind were you in when you did it. I’d like to see whoever done it get what they deserve for it. It’s not right.
You murdered something, whether it’s a human or not. You took the life of something that didn’t deserve to be taken,” Fincham said.
