Overview Project Cost: $10,731,525

The Arizona Department of Transportation is initiating a pavement life-extension project on Interstate 40 west of the city of Holbrook . The 5-mile-long project between Joseph City and Perkins Valley Road is scheduled to begin this spring.The work consists of removing the existing top layer of pavement and replacing it with an asphalt-mix overlay to improve pavement conditions and the driving surface for vehicles.

The work also includes shoulder repair, guardrail reconstruction and end treatments, and drainage improvements.Drivers should plan for lane restrictions and reduced speed limits on I-40 while the pavement work is completed.ADOT will post information about traffic restrictions and closures as it becomes available. Drivers can also stay informed of real-time, project-related traffic restrictions by visiting az511.gov or call 511, except while driving. Schedules are subject to change because of weather or other unforeseen factors. Remember to slow down and use caution around construction workers and equipment.
