Hyundai is making it easier for its EV owners to access Tesla Superchargers by offering free NACS adapters starting in 2025. This move aims to accelerate EV adoption and provide more convenient charging options.

Hyundai is offering free North American Charging Standard ( NACS ) adapters to current and new electric vehicle (EV) owners in North America. The adapters will allow Hyundai EVs equipped with combined charging system (CCS) ports to access Tesla Superchargers . The offer is valid for vehicles purchased or leased on or before January 31, 2025. Hyundai says the adapters will make DC fast-charging more convenient for current owners.

The program will cover all Hyundai EVs sold in the US, including the Kona Electric, Ioniq models, and the Ioniq 5 and 6. Genesis, Hyundai's luxury brand, is also participating. This differs from its Kia unit, where NACS to CCS adapters are only offered to EV6 and EV9 models delivered after September 4, 2024. The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be the first non-Tesla vehicle to feature a native NACS port, and other new models like the Ioniq 9 will also get native ports. However, initially, both the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 9 will charge slower on the Tesla Supercharger network with NACS compared to their CCS adapter. Hyundai says this is due to an upcoming upgrade to the Supercharger network in 2025
