Dallas' Hypnotic Donuts is donating the proceeds from their Ice Cream Sundae donut to a two-year-old cancer patient.
DALLAS — Reuban Giglio is not your average two-year-old. He plays at the park, rides his scooter, but after a Retinoblastoma diagnosis, his life changed. “Eight and a half, nine months ago, Reuben was diagnosed with retinoblastoma and that is a rare childhood eye cancer,” Giglio explained. “It basically means he has tumors in his eyes.
“I noticed his mom was a little emotional. She revealed to me that he just had his eye harvested down in Houston, Texas,” Labona stated. “She explained to me that he was looking at eight rounds of chemo. Not only were they trying to save his right eye, they were trying to save his life.” “I know what it’s like to have fear. I know what it’s like to be alone. I know what it’s like to be unhealthy and I know what it’s like to be a parent,” Labona said.
Days later, the shop created Reuban’s Donut. Hypnotic will sell it every Saturday and Sunday for the duration of Reuban’s eight chemotherapy sessions, with all proceeds going to the Giglio Family. Something his mom Hillary is incredibly thankful for. “Of course, the financial support is super meaningful and super helpful to my family and even beyond that, just knowing that random strangers you know care enough and will bring people together in the community to do something like this.
