The University of Saskatchewan Huskies will play for bronze at the U Sports women’s hockey national championship after falling 2-0 to the Concordia University Stingers in semifinal action Saturday in Charlottetown, P.E.I..
Saskatchewan will meet the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds inn the bronze-medal game Sunday afternoon. Concordia will play the Nipissing Lakers in the gold-medal final Sunday night. Audrey Belzile and Maria Manarolis, on the power play, both scored second-period goals for the Stingers in Saturday’s semifinal as Concordia went 1-for-4 with the extra player advantage.Alice Philbert made 20 saves for the shutout as Concordia outshot Saskatchewan 39-20.Concordia came into the tournament as the No. 1 seed. Saskatchewan entered at No. 5.
