Texans who live or are vacationing on the coast for the Fourth of July holiday weekend are at increased risk from Hurricane Beryl as it heads toward landfall over the weekend, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick warned at a Friday afternoon press conference.
The storm could reach the state as early as Sunday night.. A Category 1 storm as of Friday morning, Hurricane Beryl has already struck the Caribbean and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, leaving around a dozen confirmed deaths so far. As of Friday morning, weather models were zeroing in on Beryl touching down within 100 miles of Corpus Christi. But that could shift north or south along the Texas coast, moving it anywhere from Brownsville to Galveston or even Houston.
