Huntsville plans to issue about $300 million in debt over the next few months.

Moody’s Investors Service and Standard & Poor’s Rating Services have both assigned the city their highest credit ratings – “Aaa” for Moody’s and “AAA” for S&P -- Huntsville announced in a news release. It’s the 16th straight year the Rocket City has been awarded a top rating under Mayor Tommy Battle, the city said.

Less than 1% of the more than 22,000 rated U.S. cities and counties receive the top rating from Moody’s and S&P, according to the release.
