Huntsville is preparing for a winter storm expected to bring snow, freezing rain, and sleet to the Tennessee Valley on Friday. The city has deployed 15 one-ton trucks with plows, 20 half-ton trucks with bumper-mounted plows, and motor graders to clear roads. Priority will be given to areas with steep grades, roads near hospitals, and main roads leading to major employers. Huntsville, Madison County, and Madison city officials are coordinating their efforts to ensure a proactive response.
Residents are urged to prepare for the storm by stocking up on essentials, having a plan in place, and avoiding unnecessary travel. Warming shelters are open for those who need temporary shelter.
