Huntsville area Player of the Week: Defender tops list for Week 3 efforts

Bob Jones quarterback Johnny Jackson finished second in the balloting in a close finish at 3,315 votes – good for 22.16 percent. Jackson, a 5-11, 180-pounder, threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in the Patriots’ 34-31 loss to James Clemens in the Madison Bowl. Anthony Gideon, a 5-11, 200-pound sophomore Air Force Academy commitment, finished with 117 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns as the Jets beat Bob Jones. One of his TDs was a 37-yard dash and he scored the final touchdown to put James Clemens on top. Gideon finished with 3,301 votes – 22.07 percent.Only 1 new No. 1 team in AL.
