But Hunter also thinks that Jules deserves a little slack; after all, she’s only a teenager and still figuring a lot of things out — as are the rest of the characters on the popular HBO series. “At the same time, she’s 17 and has been through this crazy sh*t and she needs to get out,” Hunter said of Jules’s desire to run away and start over. “I know where that all is coming from. She felt really stuck and Nate [Jacob Elordi] has been manipulating her and forcing her literally to do crime.
Hunter went on to say that as much as Jules and Rue deeply care for one another, Rue’s well-being and safety can’t be Jules’s responsibility. “She can’t save Rue,” she emphasized. “She can’t be Rue’s savior.” This isn’t the first time that Hunter has opened up about her character in recent weeks; earlier this month, she talked with Arca forabout how Jules was, in part, modeled after her own experiences. “I know she has dreams, [many of] which she stated in the first episode,” Hunter said. “Which is just what I did in a way: escaping to New York, and working or interning in fashion...
