Gavin Hunt has emerged as a shock target for one of the DStv Premiership clubs ahead of the new season, the Siya crew has been informed.Hunt has been without a job since parting ways with Chippa United in December last year – he had also been relieved of his duties at Kaizer Chiefs prior to that.
However, Siya sources have informed the Siya crew that the four-time PSL winner could be back in the dugout in the new season! According to well-placed sources, Hunt has landed on the radar of Maritzburg United and is believed to be on the shortlist of coaches for the vacant role at the Team of Choice.
Maritzburg recently confirmed that they have parted ways with Ernst Middendorp for a third time and while former Pirates coach Fadlu Davids had been linked with a return to Pietermaritzburg.Davids has been linked with the vacant SuperSport United job, following his departure from Orlando Pirates and is understood to be the frontrunner for the Matsatsantsa job.
With Maritzburg United believed to have made an approach for the 57-year-old, it remains to be seen if Hunt will be back in the dugout for the first time in six months.
