Police are continuing the search for a man who is believed to have fled the scene of a fatal stabbing in Sydney's west.

Emergency services were called to a home on Parroo Close in St Clair in Penrith about 4.30pm on Friday where they found a man with serious injuries.A hunt is now underway for a man aged in his mid-20s of African appearance and solid build with short black dreadlocks.

Forensic specialists returned to the scene on Saturday morning where they appeared to do a walk through of the Parroo property.
