A Bainbridge Township man, 55, drove off the road and into a tree 10:25 p.m. Sept. 22. A responding officer pulled him from the wreckage. He told police he was hungry and on his way to MacDonald’s for a hamburger after having a couple of drinks.Police found a loaded 45 caliber pistol and ammunition in the glovebox. He was charged with failure to control his vehicle, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and improper handling of a firearm. He was transported to the Geauga County Jail.

The same subject likely broke into a man’s car at about 7 p.m. parked at Kenston High School and stole a laptop computer and briefcase. Two students heard the subject breaking car windows and saw him leave in his vehicle, which they described to police. The Geauga County Sheriff’s Office and Pepper Pike police had similar incidents on the same day. At about 8:30 p.m. Chester Township police pursued a vehicle matching the description while someone in the vehicle threw items out the window, including the stolen purses. The subject got away. One woman, whose purse was recovered was missing $1,100 in cash and her driver’s license.

Police are investigating. Thus far it appears that the vehicle driven by the subject was rented in Florida and not returned at its due date.
