Hundreds of people have signed the book of congratulations in the City Chambers for the Coronation.
On Tuesday, this week, Lord Provost, Jacqueline McLaren, opened the book with her massage to King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla.
She wrote: “Congratulations from Glasgow to His Majesty King Charles III and his Queen Consort, Camilla on their imminent coronations.“I wish you a reign of longevity, wisdom and happiness and look forward to welcoming you back to the city very soon.”Jeannette and George Eldridge, from Drumoyne, were among those adding their congratulations in the City Chambers.
The couple left the message: “Congratulations to our King and Queen. God bless you both. Long may you reign.”She added that it was not the case that there was no support for the monarchy in Glasgow.Jeanette said she waited for seven hours to see the late Queen in George Square when she visited the city during the Jubilee and added she hoped Charles and Camilla will come soon.“More people than you think support the monarchy, they just don’t shout about it as much.
In the book there are messages from visitors to the city from as far afield as Australia, South Africa and the United States of America.Joanna and Kellie, from Adelaide, wrote: Wishing King Charles III and Queen Camilla the very best from Australia for their Coronation. To an impactful, happy and prosperous reign.”
Elizabeth Mather, from Bridgeton, wrote: “What a great teacher you had and to follow in her footsteps will do you well. God’s blessing on you and all the Royal Family.”
