Montgomery, Alabama
Hundreds came out to the Alabama Activity Center for the Culinary Caper Celebration in downtown Montgomery Sunday. The event was hosted by “Meals On Wheels,” who provides 450 seniors with free meals every weekday.
The luncheon featured dishes from chefs from around the Montgomery area, live music, and guests were able enjoy different wines as well. There was also a live auction that participants could win wine, gift cards, or even a trip to Orange Beach. The Caper raffle featured $1000 worth of gift cards for local area restaurants. “We have a lot of seniors who live alone and have nobody to care for them on a day-to-day basis. Sometimes, our volunteers are the only person they see very often during the course of a day. It’s very difficult for them to get the nourishment they need, so we’re there to provide that for them, and that’s nationwide too. Meals On Wheels National is very well known for the work they do, and we’re doing our part of that here in Montgomery. That’s what we’re here to do,” said CEO of “Meals On Wheels Montgomery,” Chris Turman.
