A crowd of about 300 demonstrators are walking around Haywood Street on Monday, Feb. 3. evening, according to the Asheville Police Department.
Hundreds of demonstrators walked through downtown Asheville on Monday, Feb. 3, to protest the country's immigration policies.
“My mom and my dad, they’re immigrants and I born in Texas. I grow up in Mexico, but I’m an American citizen and I’m here because they can’t be here. They’re too scared of police or ICE to come here and pick them up here," said protestor, Alexis Mendoza. Almost every demonstrator had a sign with a unique message about why they believe immigrants are important in America.
News 13 also noticed many young people at the protest. We were told and the signs read that they were here for people who could not be there.
