The First Minister said he was 'hopeful' about winning the seat added there was a 'difficult context' surrounding the election.
Humza Yousaf has admitted the SNP faces a "challenge" in the Rutherglen by-election - but insisted his party was defending "a really strong record" in government.
"We're very aware of the context in which we're fighting this by-election.
"I'm the only candidate that is offering real cost of living support and that's what people are telling us again and again, on the doorsteps that they're looking for and that they need. So I'm feeling confident."
