Humza Yousaf said he wanted to “reset” the Scottish Government’s relationship with businesses, an area where Ms Sturgeon’s approach was frequently criticised
Mr Yousaf also admitted that Mr Beattie’s arrest had overshadowed his first key speech on policy since becoming First Minister, in which he announced that he was backing away from several of Ms Sturgeon’s policies.
The First Minister ordered a review of the SNP’s governance in the wake of the arrest of Mr Murrell and reiterated on Tuesday that the way the party was run under him and Ms Sturgeon would not continue. During his speech, Mr Yousaf said he wanted to “reset” the Scottish Government’s relationship with businesses, an area where Ms Sturgeon’s approach was frequently criticised.for drinks recycling, a key policy in her power-sharing agreement with the Greens, and said plans to restrict alcohol advertising would go “back to the drawing board”.
Mr Yousaf is facing growing pressure within his party to sever his ties with the former first minister. One SNP MSP toldthat regardless of where the police investigation led, he “has to get a grip and stop acting like the continuity candidate. No-one wants continuity like this.”
