Murphy had been named interim coach after Marcus Schulz took the head coaching position at Ponder High School on April 4.“I think it’s a blessing to continue to pour into the kids at Humble High School and to the community as well,” said Murphy, a Lufkin native. “I’m just honored and delighted to be named the head football coach at Humble High School. We have great kids, and I’m just excited to build on what we have built already and take this thing to the next level.
“I think Marcus and him did a great job of changing the culture,” said Humble ISD athletic director Troy Kite. “Kids were getting excited. There were significant improvements on the field, and we feel like we have a good thing going and want to continue that. He was a great fit culturally and football wise.”
