A witness told investigators the man jumped off his pontoon boat to swim, and as the boat drifted further away he began to struggle.
MONTGOMERY County, Texas -- A Humble man drowned in Lake Conroe after a witness said he jumped off a boat to swim on Saturday afternoon, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.At about 2:05 p.m., the Montgomery County Dispatch Center received a call about a man jumping off a pontoon boat to swim south of the bridge on FM 1097 near the Bentwater Subdivision.
The witness told investigators the man, identified as 55-year-old Jesus Cabrera, struggled in the water as the boat drifted further away.First responders performed life-saving measures before taking the man to a command center where EMS personnel was available.Constable Philip Cash sent his condolences to the family and warns everyone to use life safety equipment in a boat or while being in the water.
"No matter your expertise in the water, life jackets, or personal flotation devices save lives," Cash said in a press release.
