CRYSTAL CITY, Texas - Authorities attempted a traffic stop that took a turn once a pursuit was initiated according to police.
The Zavala County Sheriff's Office stated that on Wednesday at 4:55 a.m., a deputy attempted to pull over a white Chevy Silverado for a traffic violation on U.S. Highway 83 and South Ponder Ave. Authorities say that the vehicle initially stopped, but before the deputy could reach the driver, the vehicle sped off from the stop, and a pursuit ensued.
After a brief pursuit, authorities say that the vehicle then stopped, and the driver and two other individuals fled the car on foot. The Sheriff's Department then located three additional individuals still in the vehicle. The Sheriff’s Department determined that the individuals recovered were Honduran nationals and handed them over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
