Man arrested in Bartonville for theft of human remains from Denton cemetary.
Denton police were notified Wednesday that remains recovered during a Bartonville police investigation may have been taken from the IOOF Cemetery in Denton, according to a Denton police news release. Bartonville is located about 11 miles south of Denton.
A search of the cemetery led officers to a damaged mausoleum, where remains were found to be missing. The deceased’s next of kin was notified, officials said. Bartonville police have arrested 41-year-old Michael Chadwick Fry on a charge of abuse of a corpse in connection with the case.The Denton Police Department is assisting the Bartonville Police Department and the FBI’s Dallas field office in the investigation. Authorities have not released details about how the remains were taken or whether additional charges or arrests are expected.
