Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armor is easily one of his most iconic, and a main reason behind why is due to how visually striking it is. The sheer size of this behemoth is enough to make it a fan-favorite among Tony Stark’s increasingly powerful Iron Man suits, yet that’s also the reason it’s impossible to imagine it actually existing in real life. However, that didn’t stop one superfan from recreating this ‘impossible’ suit in absolutely jaw-dropping cosplay.

Iron Man would utilize the Hulkbuster armor a number of times since this first reveal, though the ultimate payoff of this monstrous suit wouldn’t come until it made its debut in the realm of live-action.
Iron Man Cosplay Proves Practical Hulkbuster Armor is Possible In an Instagram post by user Robert Paul Day , the shared image shows someone sporting their very own, totally authentic Hulkbuster armor. The design is perfectly comic accurate, the color scheme would make Tony Stark proud, and even Iron Man’s arc reactor is featured prominently in the center of the cosplayer’s chest. But, arguably the most impressive feat of all: the size.
Cosplay like this is always especially enjoyable to see, as it makes one think back to the days of superhero movies before CGI and special effects were the go-to solution for comic-accurate suits, and when practical suits were all filmmakers had to work with. While Iron Man as a character would be simple enough to bring to life using practical effects, one would assume that something like his Hulkbuster suit would be impossible. But, this cosplay proves it’s not.
Without venturing too deep into the age-old debate of practical vs special effects, this cosplay simply proves that CGI isn’t the only way to bring the ‘impossible’ proportions of Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armor to life in an authentic and absolutely epic way.
