was canceled. In a podcast interview, Hogan stated that a missed payment deadline by Netflix caused the project to fall through. His comments clarify why the production, originally set to depict his wrestling career, came to an unexpected end.In 2019, Netflix announced a Hulk Hogan biopic starring Chris Hemsworth, directed by Joker’s Todd Phillips. The film aimed to showcase Hogan’s rise from his win over The Iron Sheik to the peak of “Hulkamania.
“There was a payment that wasn’t placed at the right time.” Hogan highlighted the quality of the script, penned by Joker writer Scott Silver, calling it “amazing” and noting, “When I read it, I’m like, oh my God, this is really good.” The script, he believed, was so powerful that it had “Oscar” potential for Hemsworth, especially given that he’d never played a real person before. Ultimately, Hogan chose to walk away from the project when Netflix missed the contractual payment deadline. “I just was moving forward at the time, and when they, business-wise, missed a date, there was an option for me to pull out and I did,” he confirmed.
