The former Premier League manager took charge of his first game as head coach of the four-time African Cup of Nations winners when Ghana went up against Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium.
It took a 96th-minute strike from Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo for the west Africans to secure a narrow 1-0 win and go to the top of the Group E in AFCON qualification. However, while Hughton was able to maintain Ghana’s 23-year unbeaten run for major tournament qualification in Kumasi, the English-born tactician emphasised the need to be more clinical in front of goal.
