My '90s Heart Is Breaking Because Hugh Grant Regrets Doing All Those Rom-Coms
As someone who grew up falling in love with Hugh Grant, film after film, this statement was upsetting to me. But, Hugh had his reasons:Hugh apparently developed an"inferiority complex" for being known as as"just the guy from romantic comedies." When asked about this, Hugh admitted that it was true, it was something he developed, but has since grown out of it a bit since he's now"too old, ugly, and fat" to play the leading rom-com man.
"I was being paid tons of money," said Grant."I was very lucky...I am a big believer that our job is to entertain. It's not to practice some weird, quasi-religious experience. I see us as craftsmen..."On a level, I understand what Hugh is saying, I do. But, I can't help but be upset that, if given the chance, he would not take the roles in the iconic films that so many of us hold dear in our hearts.
