Mr Firstenberg told SkyNews.com.au snake rescues are quite common this time of year, but an operation in a major shopping centre was a first for him during his 10 years in the industry. "In 10 years of doing this, this is the first major shopping centre snake call I have had. They can vary depending on the location, but most major shopping centres aren't located near expanses of bush.Mr Firstenberg said his team on average do about 10-15 rescues per week dependent on weather and locals spotting them.
