A huge strip of land near the National Watersports Centre has gone up for sale on Rightmove with a £4.5m asking price. The 15-million square foot block sits off Adbolton Lane in West Bridgford , three miles from the city centre and on the edge of Holme Pierrepont Country Park.
The available property is made up of 170 acres of grassland, 25 acres of mixed woodland and 45 acres of wetland, as well as the main body of open water, which stretches 107 acres. Previously, the grassland has been regularly grazed or mown when conditions have allowed and land capable of cultivation has been used to grow crops.
It is a wetland habitat home to plentiful wildlife and is the largest of 16 separate water bodies in the area, stretching 1275 metres length-ways and at its widest point, a width of 505 metres. Birdwatchers say that grebe, sparrowhawk, smew, kestrel and hobby species can be seen over the water amongst other rare types.
