A team of police officers carried out a search warrant at the property on Harvesters Way in Edinburgh on Monday afternoon after being tipped off by concerned locals.
Two large machetes have been seized by police during a daring raid on an Edinburgh home after being tipped off by community sources. Officers also discovered a quantity of heroin inside the property on Harvesters Way while carrying out a search warrant on Monday, January 16.
Chief Inspector Mark Hamilton, Area Commander for South West Edinburgh, said: “On the afternoon of Monday, 16 January, 2023, police executed a drugs search warrant at a property on Harvesters Way, Edinburgh. It is understood that the weapon seizure is not connected to recent gangland incidents which have gripped the capital city. We previously told how a 28-year-old man suffered ‘the worst injuries doctors have seen’ following a ‘targeted’ machete attack in the Pilton area of Edinburgh.
The incident is being treated as attempted murder. It was the first of two assaults with a machete in less than 24 hours in the city and officers said they are keeping an “open mind” on whether the incidents are linked.
