Aston Martin are set to swap Mercedes power for Honda engines, with an announcement reportedly coming as early as Wednesday. AstonMartin Honda Mercedes F1

A report in Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Aston Martin team are sensationally set to switch their power unit suppliers to Honda for 2026, securing a deal with the Japanese manufacturer to replace their current Mercedes units.

These power units are put together in Japan and shipped to Red Bull and sister team AlphaTauri, and are designated as ‘RBPT’ for the Red Bull Powertrains division set up by Red Bull. Aston Martin, currently one of several Mercedes customers, have been supplied by the Brixworth-based manufacturer since 2009, when they were named Force India, but Lawrence Stroll’s takeover and rebrand as the British marque for 2021 have seen the team take a significant step forward.
