Hargrave was the outright District 20-4A champion this season with a 9-1 record. The Falcons, coached by Shelbee Ravlin, defeated Lumberton and Gilmer by sweeps in the first two rounds of the playoffs. The team then beat Bridge City and Salado in four sets before taking down Spring Hill for the regional title. Saturday marked the program’s first regional final appearance since 2016.
Bellville, coached by Susan Brewer, is making the program’s 18th state tournament appearance. The Brahmanettes defeated Bay City, Fredericksburg, Wimberley and Pleasanton in the first four rounds of the playoffs.Columbus advanced to the state tournament for the second consecutive season, beating Yoakum 25-18, 25-22, 25-22 in the Region IV-3A championship match Saturday at the Blossom Center.
