If your bank doesn't offer a bigger overdraft, you may want to consider First Direct, which gives a £250 0 per cent overdraft.

If you dip more into the red than that, keep in mind that you'll be charged a hefty 39.9 per cent in interest. Tracie Pearce, HSBC UK’s director of retail banking, said: "We are here for our customers in these truly extraordinary times. "While we put in place a package of support for customers across a number of product areas, we recently added the option of a mortgage payment holiday, which we had not previously offered.
