💬 HRT shortages have forced me to spend £500 on private treatment
Women across the UK are being forced to spend hundreds of pounds sourcing hormone replacement therapy privately due to the ongoing shortages of various products.
She had not been able to find Estradot, a form of oestrogen, for months and had been forced to take an alternative product, which she said was not as effective. Meanwhile, her husband was forced to phone about 20 pharmacies as they could not get hold of testosterone, she said. “I had about three days where I wasn’t on it because I just couldn’t get hold of it anywhere, and the effect it had on me was just unbelievable. I was lying on the sofa sobbing for no reason. I just felt awful,” she toldLorraine Day said she felt “awful” when she could not source her HRT tablets for three days last month, so she resorted to buying them privately online
Caroline Martin, 52, has also been forced to buy HRT privately due to the ongoing shortage of Estradot. Ms Martin has been on HRT for less than a year and said she was previously experiencing symptoms such as mood swings, tiredness, and aching.
