A Houston teenager has been charged with capital murder in the fatal shooting of a Lamar High School freshman over his shoes, according to court records.

Ramiro Hernandez, 17, was taken into custody Thursday in the death of 14-year-old Axel Turcios, Houston police said in a tweet Friday morning.9545 Ella Lee Lane around 8:10 p.m. on May 6Investigators allege Hernandez and another person approached Turcios before one or both shot him and took items from him, including his shoes, police have said. Both attackers fled in a dark Chrysler PT Cruiser.

“It’s a 14-year-old kid, innocent kid, his whole life ahead of him,” Finner said. “It just makes no sense. It angers me.” Detectives later received a tip which led to the identification of both Hernandez and another suspect, authorities stated.Crime Stoppers has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest of the suspects while local businessman Tilman Fertitta contributed an additional $20,000 for the reward.
