A Houston police officer was arrested Tuesday afternoon for driving while intoxicated after he crashed into a METRO bus, KPRC 2 News has confirmed.

METRO confirmed with KPRC 2 News that the crash happened around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday. A bus was rear-ended at a stop on Crosstimbers at I-45, and a METRO spokesperson said the vehicle involved sustained moderate damage and all airbags deployed. Two people were rushed to the hospital, according to METRO, and seven passengers reported non-life-threatening injuries at the scene. The bus has been taken to a maintenance facility with rear-end damage.The first DWI charge in May of 2023 was dismissed, according to records, after Ratcliff completed a pretrial diversion program. According to Texas Commission on Law Enforcement records, after his 2023 arrest, it appears he wasn’t employed, but got re-hired at HPD in March of this year. HPD has confirmed Ratcliff has been relieved of duty pending an internal affairs investigation. They also confirmed he was not on duty when this incident happened.Bryce Newberry joined KPRC 2 in July 2022.
